Remember MTV’s Singled Out? That’s the show that put Chris Hardwick on the map. Prior to that 1995 dating show, no one had the slightest clue who the guy even was. But he brilliantly leveraged his background as a comedian and time spent on MTV to create a multimedia empire for himself. He founded Nerdist and played host to AMC’s Talking Dead, Talking Bad, and Talking Saul.
Hardwick, however, is now in the news as the subject of #metoo allegations of sexual misconduct and assault from his former girlfriend Chloe Dykstra. The actress took to Medium to expose an unnamed ex-boyfriend, claiming that he was wildly controlling and at times, sexually assaulted her. Dykstra had dated Hardwick for three years, and though she didn’t name him in her post, people immediately identified Hardwick as the man in question. Of course, Hardwick denied Dykstra’s allegations. However, AMC has suspended him and Nerdist Industries has made it clear that he has nothing to do with the affairs of the company.
Hardwick did not shy away from speaking to the media about the whole ordeal, saying that he was “devastated to read that she is now accusing me of conduct that did not occur. l was blindsided by her post and always wanted the best for her. As a husband, a son, and future father, I do not condone any kind of mistreatment of women.”
So who is this wife he speaks of? Her name is Lydia Hearst, and everyone is dying to learn more about the model, actress, and fashion blogger.
Who is Lydia Hearst?
Born on September 19, 1984, Lydia Marie Hearst-Shaw Hardwick came into the world as the great-granddaughter of William Randolph Hearst, gaining her stake in the fortune of the country’s ninth-wealthiest family. Her great-grandfather was the media tycoon behind Hearst Publishing. According to Forbes and as it currently stands, The Hearst owns “49 newspapers, nearly 340 magazines around the globe, and valuable stakes in cable TV channels ESPN, Lifetime and A&E.”
As one of the heirs to the Hearst fortune, Lydia has an impressive amount of time to sink into her Instagram page. She shares that she is “weird, silly, serious, outgoing, sweet, kind, creative… I’m just me.” Although she is a natural blonde, she prefers to cruise through life as a brunette. She gets her kicks from watching horror movies, playing video games, and riding bulls.
When it comes to her career, Hearst has shared the big-screen with the likes of Nicholas Cage, Chloe Sevigny, and Beau Bridges, while also dabbling in the world of modeling. However, the most noteworthy of her endeavors is that of the philanthropic variety. She has invested much of her time traveling the globe with Operation Smile, a medical charity that provides free surgeries for children born with cleft lips and palettes.
So, what does his wife, Lydia Hearst, think of all this?
Hearst has remained tight-lipped when it comes to the allegations against her husband. Her mother, on the other hand, has stepped up to the plate for her son-in-law. Patty Hearst is extremely close with her daughter, so it made sense that she used her platform to come to his defense. She recently tweeted, “Beware the person who stabs you and then tells the world they’re the one who’s bleeding.”
Time will only tell what will come of Dykstra’s allegations, and what sort of action will be taken. Until then, the Hearst family will continue to rest comfortably as one of the wealthiest families in the U.S.
