Members descend on Costco with the expectation of scoring deals and stocking up on go-to household staples. In fact, some of Costco’s products have a cult-like following of dedicated consumers. But of all the products in the wholesale warehouse, which ones are fly off the shelves like hotcakes? 1. Kirkland Signature vodka
- $29.99 for a 1.75-liter bottle
When it comes to crafting the perfect cocktail, everyone knows that the better the booze, the better the results will be. The good news is that running out and buying up a bottle of Grey Goose is not necessary. Instead, members rave about Kirkland Signature vodka. The uber-popular Costco variety is created using the same water source as that of Grey Goose. And to boot, KS vodka is less than half the price of its fancy counterpart. Costco’s CEO said it was the company’s No. 1 selling liquor item in 2017.

2. Prescription medications

The Costco pharmacy is said to offer the some of the lowest prices on prescription medications. And the best news of all? No membership is required to cash in on the discounts. Consumer Reports highlighted the drastic differences in prices for the same medication between CVS and Costco. It was discovered that a customer was paying $150 for a Lipitor prescription at CVS and only $17 at Costco. It may be worth switching pharmacies for those low prices.
Pharmacy is one of Costco’s top-performing categories, according to the company’s Q2 2018 earnings call.

3. Kirkland Signature organic extra-virgin olive oil
- $18.59 for two liters
Anyone who knows how to effortlessly navigate the kitchen understands the importance of high-quality olive oil, but that does not always mean it is affordable enough to always have on hand, until now. Kirkland Signature’s organic extra-virgin olive oil is not only a member favorite, but it also passed The University of California-Davis’ imported olive oil taste test. Plus, at less than $20 for two liters, it’s an obvious win.

4. Kirkland Organic Maple Syrup
- $13.29 for a 33.8 ounce jug
There’s no doubt about the difference in quality between real maple syrup and the processed kind. That being said, studies show that more expensive syrups rarely outperform cheaper ones when it comes to flavor. That finding holds up when you look at the 33.8 ounce Kirkland jug, which outperformed even the priciest competitors.

5. Kirkland Signature bacon
- $15 for 4 pounds
Costco members love their bacon, and it is easy to understand why. For just $15, members can buy four pounds of Kirkland’s Signature bacon, which received Consumer Reports’ stamp of approval with flying colors, when compared to the nation’s other leading brands. For those unable to imagine running through four pounds of bacon, portion it up and freeze it.

6. Parmigiano Reggiano
- $12.50 per pound
This sharp, salty cheese is a real find at Costco. It comes straight from Italy, and for a two-year aged cheese comes at a pretty reasonable price. For $12.50 per pound, it sells for a lot less than premium cheeses at other stores.

7. Costco Optical

Just like Costco’s pharmacy, the company’s optical department is also available to non-members. For anyone in need of vision care, this is one of the best-performing departments, and it’s for good reason. One reporter claimed that the sole reason she footed the $60 annual membership fee was for the optical care. Not only are the optometrists highly-trained and extremely knowledgeable, the out-of-pocket cost for uninsured patients is far less than rivaling optometry centers. Optical was another top-performing category for the chain, according to its Q2 2018 earnings call.

8. Organic Peanut Butter
Costco’s organic peanut butter has no additional sugar. Instead, it’s health-conscious, prepared with a bit of sea salt, and otherwise natural ingredients. Coming in a two pack at $11.99, it’s a steal for a healthy eater who can’t eat enough peanut butter sandwiches.

9. Don Lee Farm’s plant-based burgers
- Sold 1 million in just 60 days
Plant-based diets have become increasingly more popular over the years, and it is largely because of companies like Don Lee Farm’s creating high-end vegetarian options that taste a lot of like real meat. Costco knew it was onto something when the exclusive product, Don Lee Farm’s plant-based burgers, starting flying off the shelves. Selling more than one million of the burgers in just 60 days, Costco is working to expand its distribution as quickly as possible.

10. All of Kirkland Signature’s liquor
If you are looking to round out your liquor cabinet and do so on a budget, you can’t go wrong with Kirkland Signature’s line of spirits. Whatever your poison may be, Costco has a wallet-friendly version. Besides the stand-out vodka, the warehouse’s spiced rum, Canadian whiskey, Anejo tequila, and small batch bourbon can each be enjoyed for less than $22 a bottle. Liquor is another top-performing category for Costco.
