The Met Gala glitz and glam lights up New York City as the stars parade some of the most outrageous and expensive fashions every year.
About 550 people attend the celebrated event held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Fortune reports, with opulence on full display. So who dropped the most on their gown or jewels and who ended up paying the least (hint page 8)?

1. This celebrity was dripping in jewels worth this staggering amount

Blake Lively was gorgeous in custom Versace and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry, Time reports.  Her jewels were worth a reported $2 million, which was a collaboration of gold bracelets, and three diamond and ruby rings. But that’s not it. She also wore 30-carat Colombian emerald and diamond earrings, plus a headpiece halo dotted in 100 carats of champagne diamonds.

Luckily anyone who attends the Met Gala probably has enough spare change sitting around to pay $30,000 for a single ticket, Fortune reports. For that coin, you could make a nice down payment for house, buy a car or even pay for college.

If you are uber rich, you can just purchase an entire table for about $275,000, according to Fortune. For that price you could actually buy a home or even contribute to your nest egg for early retirement.

Brides spend an average of about $1,000 on their wedding dress, which is typically the most money many women will drop on a dress in a lifetime. However, if you are lucky and rich enough to hit the Met Gala, your wedding dress expense is chump change as the average dress on the gala red carpet can be as much as $35,610, Fortune reports.

5. Her dress was on the high end

In 2013, French model Constance Jablonski wore a design by Wes Gordon, according to The Cut. The splashy gold and black, hand sculpted metal goddess gown was valued at a staggering $35,610.

While many stars went for over the top opulence, actress Olivia Wilde still nailed it in classic Calvin Klein sleekness at the 2013 gala. The star wore an all winter white matte satin bandeaux dress from the Calvin Klein collection, valued at $10,000 according to The Cut.

Some celebs don’t have to spend a dime to attend the gala, according to Stylecaster. Some ways to get in for free include working at Vogue, being one of the sponsors, or performing at the gala. You could also be invited to sit at a designer’s table for free or be a hand-selected guest by Vogue editor, and gala host Anna Wintour, The New York Times reports.

Mitt Romney rocked a Brioni tuxedo that he proudly got on sale through Amazon, Esquire reports. Sale prices for the tux are as low as $650, which retails for nearly $2,000, according to Time. Despite being proud of how much saved, Romney’s wife Ann was not as pleased.
